Hidden Rot

Hidden mold and rot are caused by any number of things, such as a leaky roof, ice dams leaking water between wall surfaces, a slow-leaking water or drain pipe, improperly-vented bathroom exhaust fans, or even a loose fitting on a refrigerator ice-maker.  Over time, this can cause structural weakness, mold, and even encourage carpenter ants.  We evaluate the situation, negotiate with insurance companies and complete all the necessary repairs to remediate these situations.

In this cabin, the homeowners encountered a sagging kitchen floor. Upon pulling up the floorboards, they encountered more serious structural issues. Frequently, when floors start to sag, inappropriate measures are taken to solve the problem. If you look at the photos below, you can see one of those attempts, as well as how we addressed the problem, brought the floor up to code, and updated their plumbing so that the pipes are now code-regulated PVC.
